About the Facilitator: 

Gail Gonick-Hallows, M.A. is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing in Santa Rosa for over 10 years.  She is a seasoned group facilitator, with experience developing and leading groups focused on grief, anger management, as well as childbirth and mindful parenting classes in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1998.  Now, addressing the other end of the parenting cycle, Gail is excited to offer Empty Nesting Mindfully groups. She has lived in Sonoma County for 18 years, where she and her husband raised their 3 children who are now young adults.

​This 5-week serieswill support participants in the transformative process of "empty-nesting", as they perform new roles as parents of young adults, while refocusing on themselves as individuals in new family structures, and in this stage of life. Modalities include in-person group discussions, activities, mindfulness exercises, therapeutic writing and expressive art exploration.


This group will support parents entering this new "empty-nesting" phase of life when their children become adults and leave the family home.  Topics include encouraging the adulting process, launching, boundaries, grief, stage-of-life changes, redefining and refocusing on yourself, self-care, finding purpose, adopting new roles, relationship/partner challenges and opportunities, re-forming community...
